Summer Makeup Tips

Essential Protection:
Protect your skin from damage this summer by using a moisturizer with an SPF factor of 15 or higher. Use it daily and you’ll help to combat those early signs of aging such as sun spots and fine lines. Remember that you’ll be exposed to harmful UVA and UVB rays even on a cloudy day. Apply your SPF moisturizer to a clean face and allow 10 minutes for it to absorb before applying your foundation.
Lighten up:
When the warm weather hits you might find that foundation and powder feels too heavy on your skin. For a fresher, lighter look switch to a tinted moisturizer, apply with a damp sponge and you’ll be sure to get an even look. A little concealer dabbed under the eye will give added radiance.
Eye Shadow:
Lighter makeup accentuates a dark tan. The new eye shadows available today give shimmer and glide on smoothly. Combine a lighter creme eye-shadow with light lipstick or lip gloss and you’ll have an instant, updated summer look.
For longer lasting makeup, apply pressed powder to your eyelids to soak up any additional oil before you brush on the eye shadow. This will also help “set” the powder and prevent creasing.
Mascara:
Today’s mascara isn’t near as conservative as it was years ago. With brushes, colors and formulas available for just about every situation, your choice today is much easier whether you’re a blonde, brunette or redhead.
Summer may be the only time you need waterproof mascara. For exercising or swimming, use the waterproof formula to prevent the dreaded “black eye” syndrome. Even if you don’t anticipate the need, keep some on hand for that impromptu invite to the lake or beach.
Essential Waterproofing:
There is nothing worse than running mascara, so if you’re planning a beach holiday or going to a wedding, consider your choice of mascara with care. Waterproof mascara is great, but you’ll probably need an oil-based eye make-up remover to take it off properly so that you don’t get an unsightly build-up. If you don’t want the hassle, it’s worth getting your eyelashes professionally tinted. If you’re particularly fair and have very light eyebrows it’s worth getting them dyed too.
Lips:
Cool mauve, rose and pinks are the summer trend for lips. Fill in sparse lips with a lip liner that matches your lips and go just beyond your lip line to add fullness. For a daring look, try classic red, which never goes out of style.
Pucker up your lips with a lip plumper which will increase collagen production and deliver instant moisture. Designed to make your lips larger and decrease fine lines and wrinkles, this is a win-win situation. Apply some lip gloss to add volume and dimension and your lips will never look so good!
Holiday Glam:
Make the most of your newly-acquired tan by using Color Me Beautiful fabulous new Glow highlighter on your cheekbones and brow. With its subtle pearlescent luster it looks amazing on tanned skin and you can even use it in the daytime to help keep your holiday glow when you return to work. For a touch of instant evening glamor apply the Glow highlighter to your shoulders and decolletage.
Cheeky Cheeks:
If you don’t like using fake tans and bronzing powders, the easiest way to achieve a healthy natural glow is with blush. Whether your blush is an ultra-fine powder or a light cream, the rules are the same.
Apply it along your cheekbones or the apples of your cheeks, depending on your face shape. Remember to build up the color gradually until you get the soft natural glow that you’re looking for.
Bronzing Powder Tips:
Kudos to whoever invented bronzing powder. It’s not only a popular spring and summer makeup, it can be used in a variety of ways, any time of the year! Apply it to your face to play up a tan, or just to fake one. Strategically place it along the sides of your cheekbones to slim your face, or on each side of your nose to make it appear smaller.
Dab some on your shoulders for a shimmer effect when wearing a strapless dress. Use your imagination and you’ll soon find that bronzing powder it a must-have summertime make-up!
Final Tip:
If you are going to be spending large amounts of time in the sun, whether in the garden or on the beach, make sure you invest in a bottle of sun tan lotion, a floppy sun hat and a pair of sun glasses to help protect your skin from potential sun damage
